Navarro, Warriors lead after Day 1 of SOU Spring Classic

EAGLE POINT, Ore. 
– Lewis-Clark State’s Alex Navarro shot 9-under over the first 36 holes of the Southern Oregon Spring Classic on Monday at Stone Ridge Golf Club, taking a four-stroke lead entering the third and final round of the Cascade Conference-counting tournament.

Navarro’s big day pushed the Warriors to the top of the team leaderboard at 12-under, five strokes ahead of No. 6-ranked British Columbia and seven ahead of Southern Oregon. The senior carded a 66 in the second round of the par-72 course, notching two eagles and six birdies.

UBC’s Mackenzie Bickell and Dylan MacDonald are tied with LCSC’s Luke West for second place at 5-under. MacDonald shot a 67 in the second round, trimming five strokes off his first-round total.

SOU had its best-ever CCC Tournament day at 5-under thanks to fifth-place Mason Labow (-2) and seventh-place Riley Kirk (-1). Another Raider, Ryder Jacox, matched Kirk’s score but is competing as an individual.

Round 3 is set for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
