Mountaineers Rally Past Georgia Gwinnett 4-2 to Advance in NAIA World Series

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Eastern Oregon used a three-run fourth inning to power past Georgia Gwinnett, earning a 4-2 win in NAIA World Series action on Friday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 after the first inning, the Mountaineers responded with a burst of offense in the middle frames. A series of hits helped post three runs in the fourth inning before adding a critical insurance run in the fifth.

Senior infielder Madelyn Durham sparked the Mounties at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Raygun Klippert reached base twice and added a hit and two walks, while Emily Barry and Kelly Monaghan each recorded RBI hits during EOU's fourth-inning rally.

Kylie Parsons delivered another strong outing in the circle. After tossing a shutout in EOU's opening-round win, the senior held Georgia Gwinnett to two runs on five hits across seven innings, striking out seven.

Georgia Gwinnett, seeded higher than the Mounties, opened the scoring with a first-inning RBI from Savannah Jenkins. The Grizzlies added a run in the sixth, but EOU's defense held firm to close the game.

The Mountaineers finished with seven hits to Georgia Gwinnett's five, and both teams committed one error.
