Potter represents SOU on Academic All-America at-large team

ASHLAND – Evan Potter made more Southern Oregon University men's wrestling history on Wednesday when he was named to the at-large Academic All-America second team, as announced by the College Sports Communicators.

Potter became the second Raider men's wrestler ever, and the first in 22 years, to earn the distinction. In March, he ended his career as the eighth four-time NAIA All-American in team history.

The CSC Academic All-America honor is designed to recognize the top student-athletes in the country for their combined academic and athletic success. Potter was one of only six NAIA wrestlers to make the at-large team.

The Junction City product is an art and art history major with a 3.55 cumulative GPA.

In 2024-25, Potter delivered his second consecutive national runner-up finish at 141 pounds. Before he ended the 2023-24 season in the NAIA finals, no Raider had reached that round in eight years.

His four-year record at SOU was 104-23, including a 49-5 mark over his final two seasons combined. His other national finishes were sixth place as a freshman and third place as a sophomore, both at 133 pounds.

Potter was also a three-time All-Cascade Conference performer. He captured CCC championships during his junior and senior seasons.

The only previous SOU men's wrestler to land on an Academic All-America team was Christopher Huntley in 2003.

Potter is the fifth Raider in 2024-25 to attain CSC Academic All-America status in any sport. Track and field/cross country honorees will be announced later this month.
