Mountaineers Blank Dordt in Season Opener

LA GRANDE, Ore. Eastern Oregon opened its 2025 women's soccer campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Dordt University Thursday afternoon at Community Stadium. The Mountaineers (1-0-0) delivered a well-rounded performance, dominating both ends of the field while showcasing an efficient attack and a stifling defense.

EOU wasted no time applying pressure, outshooting the Defenders 18-3, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Mountaineers carried a 3-0 lead into halftime and never looked back.

Senior defender Tess Sando put the Mounties on the board in the 12th minute, finishing a corner service from Peyton Jacaway. Fourteen minutes later, Siena Salazar doubled the lead off a setup from Macy Reed. Gracie Rainsberry capped the first-half scoring in the 45th minute, converting another corner kick.

Jacaway added a goal of her own early in the second half to cement the 4-0 scoreline. The Mounties' depth was on full display, with 20 players seeing action and four different goal scorers. Rainsberry, Jacaway, Sando, and Salazar each found the back of the net, while Reed tallied a team-high two points with her pair of assists.

On the defensive side, goalkeeper Rylee Schei made one save in a full 90-minute clean sheet, while EOU's back line limited Dordt (0-1-0) to just three total shots and no corner kicks.
Dordt goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra faced a barrage of attacks, recording five saves on nine shots on goal.

Eastern Oregon returns to action next week, hosting Doane University on Friday, August 29 at 11 a.m. at Community Stadium.
