Mounties Sweep Skylights in Season Opener

BUTTE, Mont. – No. 5 Eastern Oregon University volleyball opened its 2025 campaign with authority on Thursday evening, sweeping Montana State University-Northern with set scores of 27-25, 25-23, 25-18.

The Mountie offense was solid, racking up 55 kills as a team for a .327 hitting percentage. McKenzie Jonas led the charge with 12 kills, while Keira Vaughn added 10. Kiauna Mack chipped in nine kills and anchored the defense at the net with a match-high six blocks.

A total of 15 Mountaineers saw action, with five posting attack percentages north of .400.

Eastern's offense was quarterbacked by setters Kate Stidham and Ava Semprimoznik, who tallied 28 and 18 assists respectively. On the defensive end, Jaycee Villastrigo led the effort with 12 digs, helping limit the Skylights to a .228 hitting percentage.

EOU will be back at it tomorrow, taking on No. 24 William Carey University (Miss.) at 10 a.m. PT,  followed by a match with No. 10 University of Providence (Mont.) at 3 p.m. PT.
