BUTTE, Mont. – No. 5 Eastern Oregon University volleyball continued its hot start to the season with a pair of sweeps over top-25 programs on Friday at the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge.
The Mountaineers opened the day with a landslide win over No. 24 William Carey (25-12, 25-7, 25-16), then followed it up with a gritty sweep of No. 10 University of Providence (32-30, 25-21, 25-20).
GAME ONE
Eastern was unstoppable in the opening match, dominating nearly every facet of the game. The Mounties hit an impressive .400 percent with 39 kills, while smothering the Lady Crusaders at the net and from the service line with 12 blocks and 14 aces.
Brooke Womack paced the attack with 13 kills and four aces, while Kiauna Mack had a monster performance with 11 blocks.
William Carey struggled to find a rhythm, hitting -.046 with 17 kills and 20 errors on 65 swings.
GAME TWO
The Argos brought more of a challenge in the nightcap, but nothing the Mounties couldn't handle even through a marathon first set.
EOU's offense remained sharp, racking up 53 kills with 16 of them from Keira Vaughn, who led all hitters. Mack added 14 kills and continued her two-way dominance with six more blocks.
Jaycee Villastrigo anchored the back row with a match-high 18 digs to hold Providence to a .105 hitting percentage.
