PORTLAND, Ore. – The Bushnell men’s soccer team continued to roll on Sunday afternoon, defeating Lewis & Clark College, 4-0, in a well-rounded victory.
The Beacons (3-0) posted 21 shots with 12 shots-on-goal, earned ten corner kicks, scored twice in each half, and allowed the Pioneers (0-1) to take just one shot-on-goal in 90 minutes, despite playing deep into their bench with 26 different players seeing action.
"We had another good team performance today," said Head Coach Joao Ehlers. "It was nice to rotate a lot of players and keep the same quality. We are very happy with the result.”
Bushnell didn’t waste any time before scoring the eventual game-winning goal as junior defender Jesus Aguilar (pictured) fired home a shot in the ninth minute, off a pass from Omar Barajas. Barajas added a goal of his own, his fourth of the season, off a pass from Emilio Alfaro in the 38th minute.
The Beacons blitzed out of the locker room and within five minutes of the opening whistle, had made it a 4-0 game.
Alfaro assisted on his second goal in the 48th minute, finding Walter Ruestle for the strike and just two minutes later, Joan Remo Morales scored on Barajas’ second assist.
UP NEXT: Bushnell will look to keep the momentum going into next week when they come home to take on Pacific University on Thursday at 6:00 pm.
