Mountaineers Post Scoreless Draw at Hope International

IRVINE, Calif. Eastern Oregon men's soccer continued its Southern California road swing with a gritty 0-0 draw against Hope International on Tuesday night at Great Park Stadium. The result keeps the Mountaineers unbeaten to start the 2025 season, improving to 2-0-3 overall while maintaining momentum with more road action ahead.

Despite dominating possession and offensive opportunities, EOU was unable to break through the Royals' back line or past goalkeeper Berlin Torres, who made five saves on five shots on goal. The Mounties took 16 total shots, with Pablo Cardenas-Sanchez and Marcos Bravo combining for 10 of them.

The first half saw both teams trade early chances before Hope International went down to 10 men after a red card to Christopher Ferrufino in the 25th minute. EOU quickly ramped up pressure, recording four corner kicks in each half and holding an 8-0 edge in that category.

Eastern Oregon's defense also stood strong, limiting the Royals to just six total shots and one shot on goal—easily handled by goalkeeper Anthony Lemus, who notched his second clean sheet of the season.

Henry Lopez and Jesus Alvarez each picked up yellow cards for EOU, while Austin Tesch was also booked in the second half. The match was physical throughout, with a combined 21 fouls and four yellow cards issued, along with the early red card to HIU.

Eastern Oregon continues their Golden State stretch tomorrow against Life Pacific at 10 a.m. as they look to remain unbeaten heading into conference play.
