SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Men's Soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their 2025 schedule earlier today at the Outdoor Athletic Complex (OAC), as the Warriors pitched a combined shutout in goal while scoring on a pair of goals from sophomore forwards in a 2-0 victory over NCAA DIII Lewis & Clark College. Sophomore forwards Alexander Guindy and Zachary Milczarek represented the goal scorers for the Warriors, with Guindy's coming just before halftime and Milczarek finding pay dirt as Corban played down a man within the closing minutes of the contest.
"Today was a great way to wrap up our non-conference schedule," commented Corban head coach Tim Kagey. "We're looking forward to beginning conference play on the road next weekend."
The Navy and Gold (2-4-0) dominated time of possession and offensive opportunities against the Pioneers (0-3-1), who had just forced their second-ever draw as a program versus fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) member Northwest University just last weekend. Corban outshot Lewis & Clark 12-3 on the day, with the Pios not having their first shot until late in the second half.
Just two and a half minutes before the halftime horn, Guindy converted a free kick try from just outside the L&C penalty box, curving up and over the blockade to score his first goal of the season. Following Guindy's second yellow card that resulted in Corban having to play down a man for the final seven minutes of action, Milczarek rebounded on a shot from senior forward Nathan Martinez that was saved by Pios' goalkeeper Declan Cloutier for the open net goal and his second of the year.
Despite not registering a save on the day, redshirt senior starting goalkeeper Isaac Pureco picked up his second win on the season and behind 30 minutes of relief from redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Callum Thompson, helped lead the Warriors to their second clean sheet on their home turf. Thompson picked up a pair saves during his time in net this afternoon.
Milczarek and redshirt senior defender Landon Moore each took three shots to lead all student-athletes offensively, with two of Milczarek's going on goal to earn the top shots-on-goal mark. On the Pioneers' sideline, three different attackers all took a single shot, with forward Ben Schwartz and midfielder Dylan Weinstein splitting their team's two shots on goal.
With non-conference play now completed, the Warriors will turn their attention towards CCC competition next week, beginning with a 758-mile road trip to Great Falls, Montana to battle the University of Providence (0-3-1) at 3:30pm MT/2:30pm PT.
