CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Bushnell University Men’s Soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for September 8 – 14, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Bushnell is off to its best start in program history, rolling through non-conference play with a perfect 6-0 record to sit atop the CCC standings entering league action.
On Thursday the Beacons earned a 3-0 win over Pacific Union, where Giovanni Agogliati factored into all three goals, scoring once and assisting twice. Omar Barajas added his seventh goal of the season while Danny Rojas found the net early in the 8th minute. The defense held strong as Bushnell earned its third shutout of the year.
On Saturday, Bushnell erupted for a 9-0 victory over Cal Maritime, the program’s second-largest win ever. Six different players scored, led by two-goal outings from Barajas, Rojas, and Joan Remo Morales. Barajas also tallied two assists and now has nine goals and five assists on the year, breaking the Beacons’ single-season points record (23) while leading the NAIA nationally.
Behind goalkeeper William Haberfield who recorded eight saves this week, Bushnell closed non-conference play with its fourth shutout of the season and extended its winning streak while going unbeaten in its last 17 non-conference matches.
Next week, the Beacons open CCC Play on Thursday against University of Providence.
