CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Carroll College Men’s Soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for September 22 – 28, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
After a dominant road swing that kept the Fighting Saints unbeaten in conference play, Carroll improved to 5-1-1 overall and a 3-0 conference record.
The Saints opened the trip with a 4-0 shutout at The Evergreen State College, breaking open a scoreless match with four goals in the second half. Alfie Snow struck first in the 57th minute, followed by tallies from Sam Loughton, freshman Cyrille Wangama with his first collegiate goal, and Nils Benning. Goalkeeper Juan Muniz Navarrete anchored the defense with three saves for his latest clean sheet, as Carroll controlled play with an 11-6 shot advantage.
Carroll carried that momentum into Saturday, defeating Northwest University 4-1. Felix Billard opened the scoring with a penalty in the fourth minute, and after NU equalized before halftime, the Saints took over in the second half. Snow netted the go-ahead goal and later added a second, giving him three goals across the two matches, while Loughton added his second goal of the weekend. Pedro Teixeira tallied two assists in the victory.
Up next, the Saints will host (RV) Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech.
