Artusini Impresses in Collegiate Debut at Beartooth Invitational

SCORES
LAUREL, Mont. – Andrea Artusini made quite the impact in his collegiate debut on Monday at the Beartooth Invitational. The freshman leads No. 19 LC State Men's Golf after the first two rounds at the Laurel Golf Club in a tie for second and the Warriors sit in second place as a team.

The Warriors are 9-under through 36 holes with a 12-stroke lead over the third-place team. Host Rocky Mountain (Mont.) leads the tournament at 24-under.

"The men battled today," coach Zach Anderson said. "Although, the numbers might look good, today wasn't that great. Me and this group really have high standards for our team this year and we didn't quite achieve the level of golf we wanted. That being said, we found a way to make it out of today with two under-par team rounds. Andrea was a bright spot. For his first collegiate experience, it was quite impressive. To have a bogey-free round in your college debut is something to note for sure. This group is excited for a chance to chase down Rocky tomorrow. Looking for a solid round three which is something we haven't been able to do yet this year."

Artusini played like a seasoned veteran with rounds of 67-71 to start his college career. The Italian carded five birdies in his first 18 holes and added four more in the second round. He closed out his day with an eagle to sit 6-under-par and three strokes off the lead.

The duo of Luke West and Lucas Ortega are tied for seventh with matching scores of 1-under, 143. West started his day with a 2-under, 70 aided by three birdies before he used four birdies to balance out his second round of 74. Ortega got better as the day went on after rounds of 74-69. The sophomore carded an eagle in his final 18 holes.

Senior Sondre Andresen was consistent throughout both rounds and is tied for 17th heading into Tuesday's final round. He shot rounds of 73-74 for a score of 3-over. Kye Krall made the biggest improvement on the day with rounds of 79-70. He shaved nine strokes off in the second round with four birdies to sit tied for 21st.
