KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A career-best round from Baylee Hodgman anchored an outstanding opening day for Oregon Tech, as the Lady Owls take a 22-stroke lead into tomorrow's final round of the rain-shortened Run-In at the Ranch at the Running Y Resort.
COMPLETE DAY 1 RESULTS
Originally scheduled for a 54-hole tournament, a midday deluge created ponding on the greens and fairways – creating a stoppage four holes into Round 2. Tournament officials decided to cancel the second round and begin tomorrow with the regularly scheduled Round 3.
Battling gusty winds and driving rain, OIT dominated their home course, carding a 9-over-par 297 – the seventh time the Lady Owls have posted a 297 or better score in program history.
College of Idaho (319) is alone in second, nine shots clear of Southern Oregon (328), with Simpson (346) in fourth.
Hodgman had three birdies in an even-par round of 72 – four strokes better than any previous round as a collegian. The senior is tied with C of I's Reece Garey atop the leaderboard, with SOU's Keira Cheng one stroke back after a 1-over-par 73.
OIT players filled the next three spots in the Top-6 – as Madie Hepner shot a 2-over-par 74, Madison Dick posted a 3-over-par 75 and Brittney Barrington carded a 4-over-par 76.
The teams will close out the tournament tomorrow with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
