RV Royals Blank Warriors in Low Scoring Neutral Site Matchup

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – It was all Royals today in a single-goal contest on the campus of fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) member Oregon Tech, as the Corban University Women's Soccer team struggled to possess past midfield and saw their defense peppered for 21 shots against RV Hope International University while managing just two of their own.

"This was a very well fought game, as our girls executed our gameplan flawlessly and outside of a defensive error on a set piece, we kept them to very few real opportunities," Warriors' head coach Brooke Alteneder shared. "I'm proud of this team for the discipline to stick to a new formation and trust each other. We're very excited to keep moving forward into the season with us playing more cohesively as the year continues."

In the 21st minute of today's contest, the Warriors (1-2-0) surrendered the lone goal against the Royals (3-1-0) after defender Shelby Kain collected a cross from midfielder Kalia Lanoza to net the eventual game-winner for the receiving-votes Hope International squad. HIU held possession for a majority of the matchup within Corban's defensive half, as the Navy and Gold were subjected to 12 shots on goal, 11 corner kicks, and had to come up with 11 total saves while seeing limited offensive opportunities of their own.

Sophomore forward Maya Alston was responsible for both of the Warriors' shots, the first of which was saved by the Royals' second goalkeeper to see playing time this afternoon. Meanwhile, junior goalkeeper Ava Hayes was busy in her complete game effort today, as she allowed just the single goal while swatting away nine total saves.

The Royals were led offensively by Kain and her four shots, all of which were tabbed on goal while five other student-athletes registered multiple shots on the day. Goalkeepers Victoria Ruiz and Brittany Hazelton combined for the shutout result, with Ruiz earning the win and Hazelton recording the lone save against Alston.

Next Friday, September 12th, the Warriors will return to their home field for the only contest at the OAC in the entirety of September, as they'll host Simpson University (1-1-1) for a 10am kickoff.
