Under Armour Team of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Rocky Mountain College women's soccer has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Team of the Week after earning two road victories to take over first place in the CCC standings.

The Battlin' Bears opened the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Oregon, extending their winning streak to three matches with a third consecutive shutout. Sophomore defender Ava Gibson scored her first career goal in the 20th minute, finishing a sequence initiated by Reese Jeffers and Gracie Clarkson. Goalkeeper Matea Vernon recorded six saves to preserve the shutout as Rocky held off a Mountaineer attack that produced 14 shots.

Rocky followed with a statement victory Saturday, defeating No. 4 College of Idaho 2-0 in Caldwell, Idaho. Senior forward Charlize Davis scored twice in a three-minute span, finding the net in the 52nd and 55th minutes to secure the win. Vernon stopped all seven shots on goal she faced to record her fifth shutout of the season.

The victory marked Rocky's first win over a nationally ranked opponent since 2014, its first win in Caldwell since 2017 and its first victory over the Yotes since 2021. The two shutouts extended the Battlin' Bears' streak to four consecutive matches without conceding a goal.

Rocky improved to 7-0-4 overall and 6-0-2 in CCC play, moving into sole possession of first place in the conference standings. Next up Rocky will return home to take on the University of Providence on Thursday, October 15th.
