KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Emmi Marks and Emma Bischoff of Corban University have been named the NAIA Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week after a flawless opening weekend at the Corban Invitational. Marks, a senior from Salem, Oregon, and Bischoff, a junior from Medford, Oregon, helped No. 2 Corban put together an unbeaten weekend while continuing a perfect start to their season in the No. 1 spot.
Corban went 3-0 in team play across the two-day event, earning a 4-1 win over the University of Portland on February 20 before adding another 4-1 victory against Sacramento State on February 21. The Warriors closed the weekend in dominant fashion with a 5-0 sweep of Chaminade University later that day. The results pushed Corban’s overall record to 6-1 and reinforced the team’s early-season momentum against a challenging slate.
Anchoring the lineup at the first pair, Marks and Bischoff were untouchable. They went 3-0 on the weekend and did not drop a set, extending their season doubles record to 7-0 with a remarkable 7-0 mark in matches without surrendering a single set through seven contests. Against Portland’s Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson, the Corban duo earned a straight-set win, 21-9, 26-24, combining a runaway first set with the poise to close a tight second. They followed that with another two-set victory over Sacramento State’s Victoria Marthaler and Aurora Bibolotti, 21-13, 21-18, controlling the match with steady sideout play and consistent pressure. In the finale versus Chaminade, Marks and Bischoff again delivered in two, defeating Kanoelehua Misipeka and Leilani Ama, 21-18, 21-17, to help complete the team sweep.
