KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Southern Oregon University No. 1 beach pair of Grace Gulbrandsen and Tessa Zimmermann picked up weekly recognition as the March 17 NAIA Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week, earning three wins to improve to 8-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and 9-3 as a pair, overall.
Gulbrandsen, from Folsom, Calif., and Zimmermann, from Albany, Ore., opened with a March 13 win over Kimora McKechie and Brooklyn Jimenez, from Simpson (Calif.) - 21-11, 21-10 - and later that day, they knocked off Greta Valaika and Liza Montalbo, from eighth-ranked College of Idaho - 21-15, 21-18.
The next day, Gulbrandsen and Zimmermann made it back-to-back wins over Valaika and Montalbo - 21-12, 21-10 - to help the fourth-ranked Raiders improve to 10-2 on the year.
It's the second-straight week for the Raiders with a Pair of the Week, as Molly Grace and Kira Sandoval claimed weekly recognition for SOU on March 10.
Southern Oregon's next match is a big one, hosting No. 2 Corban (Ore.) in a CCC match on March 27, in Ashland, Oregon.
