REDDING, Calif. – The men of LC State Golf earned their second straight team title on Tuesday with a nine-stroke victory at the Simpson Spring Invitational in Redding, Calif. Adam Lovatt led the group with a second-place finish at Riverview Country Club with Luke West and Kye Krall also in the top 10.
"Big win for the men," coach Zach Anderson said. "Great to close out the week with the win. They are trending in the right direction at the perfect time as we get closer to postseason."
The Warriors matched their second round with a 3-over, 291 on Tuesday to finish the tournament even-par. Host Simpson (Calif.) was second at 9-over. Bushnell was the second Cascade Conference school in the team standings in fourth place at 21-over.
Lovatt shot his second under-par round of the tournament with a 1-under, 71 to finish 5-under at 54 holes (65-75-71).
Junior Luke West finished tied for sixth with an even-par score of 216 (73-70-73) and Kye Krall matched West in the final 18 holes with a 73 to place eighth. He was 2-over (72-73-73).
Sophomore Andrea Artusini finished the two-day tournament in a tie for 13
th with a score of 4-over, 220. He carded a 75 in his final 18 holes (72-73-75). Sondre Andresen rounded out the scoring group in a tie for 18
th. He was 7-over with scores of 74-75-74.
Senior Jaxon Moon competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 24
th. He had a strong bounce back after his second round of a 2-over, 74, in his final 18 holes for a 10-over total (69-83-74).
UP NEXT
The Warrior women are in action next week at the Roadrunner Spring Invitational hosted by Dalton State (Ga.). The men take a break and return to the course Apr. 13-14 for Warner Pacific's (Ore.) Tournament of Knights as part of Cascade Conference play.
