CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following eight Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes have been recognized as the McDonald's Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, for their performances during competition from April 6 – 12, 2026.
Baseball – Player
No. 5-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Brandon Nguyen named the CCC Baseball Player of the Week.
Nguyen, a junior outfielder from Arcadia, Calif., had an outstanding day on the field for the Warriors, helping lead LC State to a doubleheader sweep over Eastern Oregon University. He recorded a .545 batting average and a 1.455 slugging percentage with six hits including three homeruns. He also added seven RBIs and four runs while earning a .583 on base percentage. Defensively he was perfect in the field to cap off the terrific performance.
Baseball – Pitcher
Warner Pacific University’s Mason Deverna was named the CCC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Deverna, a senior from Dundee, Ore., delivered a standout all-around performance for the Knights, helping secure a series win over Bushnell University along with two nonconference victories. On the mound, he allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out 13 batters over 10 innings for a 0.90 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. At the plate, he posted a .550 batting average and a .750 slugging percentage to cap a dynamic week.
Softball – Player
No. 4-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Hope Burke was named the CCC Softball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Burke, a senior outfielder from Springfield, Ore., had a terrific weekend on the field as EOU won the series against (RV) University of British Columbia. She recorded a .600 batting average and a 1.200 slugging percentage with six hits including two homeruns. She also added seven RBIs and five runs while earning a .714 on base percentage. Defensively she was perfect in the field to round out her stellar outing.
Softball – Pitcher
No. 1-ranked Oregon Tech’s Kristine Schmidt was named the CCC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.
Schmidt, a junior from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, had another fantastic weekend in the circle for the Owls, securing a complete game shutout victory over No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University. She recorded a season high 11 strikeouts while allowing just two hits and two walks for a perfect ERA and a .57 WHIP. Her efforts led to the 3-0 win, moving her record to 15-1 on the season.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Kobe Wessels was named the CCC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Wessels, a senior from Lewiston, Idaho, had a standout showing at the Jeff Rahn Classic. He finished the 1500m in 3:52.71 to secure the programs fourth-best time and the No. 16 spot on the NAIA leaderboard.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Mark Church was named the CCC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Church, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, had a stellar showing at the NNU Open. He won the hammer throw with a mark of 57.36m to reach an ‘B’ Standard and earn the No. 8 rank in the NAIA standings this season. He also earned fourth place in the discus (46.24m) and fifth place in the shot put (14.76m).
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Elysse Fleming was named the CCC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Fleming, a senior from London, Ont., had an outstanding weekend at the Battle of Sparta. She won the 1500m with a time of 4:34.53, earning a ‘B’ standard and securing the No. 9 rank on the NAIA leaderboard.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
The College of Idaho’s Helene Rae was named the CCC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Rae, a freshman from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, had a standout showing at the NNU Open. She placed second in the shot put with a mark of 14.45m to reach an ‘A’ standard and hold the No. 4 spot on the NAIA standings this season while setting a program record.
