CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Lewis-Clark State College men’s golf team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for April 27 – May 3, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The Lewis-Clark State men’s golf team made history, capturing its first ever Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament title and snapping University of British Columbia’s long-standing dominance in the process.
The Warriors led wire-to-wire at the Lewiston Golf & Country Club, finishing with a three-round total of 12-under-par 852 to win by four strokes. The victory marks the first time any CCC program has defeated UBC in conference championship play since they joined.
Freshman Andrea Artusini headlined the performance, claiming the individual title after firing a 5-under 67 in the final round. He finished the tournament at 7-under overall, using a final round that featured four birdies and an eagle to surge into first place.
Fellow freshman Adam Lovatt also played a pivotal role, tying for third at 4-under. Lovatt entered the final round as the team leader and delivered a clutch birdie on hole 18 to help secure the team title. Luke West added a strong finish, shooting a 2-under 70 in the final round to move into a tie for eighth, while Sondre Andresen (T-10) and Kye Krall (T-16) rounded out the scoring effort.
The championship performance earned head coach Zach Anderson CCC Coach of the Year honors for the third time in his career, while Lovatt and West were named All-Conference for their season-long success.
With the historic win, LC State clinched an automatic berth to the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship for the first time since 2017.
