SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The 2026 Bushnell women's golf season kicked off with a bang on Friday as the Beacons posted the second-lowest score in school history, taking a commanding lead over Corban University in their season opening dual at Pine Ridge Golf Course.
The Beacons shot an opening-round 322, just three strokes shy of their record set last November. It was only the fifth round ever for the Beacon women's golf team to come in under 330. The round was also good enough to give the hosts a 60-shot lead at the halfway point of the season-opening dual with Corban, who shot 382.
The Beacons owned the top five individual scores after round one, led by an historic round from Jaylee Hix (pictured). The sophomore scored a 74, tying her personal best and missing the Bushnell single-round record by just one stroke.
She is now one of three Bushnell players all-time (Kelsie Hellwege and Ashley King the others) to score 75 or better, and all three have done so twice.
Hix is followed by Hailey Smith in second (81) and Kylee Smith in third (82), while Jade Richwine rounded out the team scoring in fourth (85).
Making her Beacon debut and playing as an individual, Jordyn Lorence tied Richwine for fourth with an 85.
Corban was led by Ashlyn Thomas is sixth-place, shooting an 88.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday, shifting to Blue River, Oregon, where they teams will compete at Tokatee Golf Course.
