CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 15-ranked University of British Columbia men's golf team has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Team of the Week after opening the 2026-27 season with a record-setting performance at the Oregon Tech Invitational in Klamath Falls, Ore.
The Thunderbirds captured the team title with a three-round score of 831, finishing 33-under par and setting a new Cascade Collegiate Conference 54-hole team scoring record. UBC finished four strokes ahead of No. 20-ranked Lewis-Clark State, which placed second at 835.
UBC was led by Jake Houston, who claimed individual medalist honors with a 15-under 201. The third-year golfer carded rounds of 67, 66 and 68 to establish a new Cascade Collegiate Conference record for lowest individual score over 54 holes. His 201 also ranks second in UBC program history.
The Thunderbirds placed four golfers among the top six individually. Manpreet Lalh finished fourth at 9-under 207, highlighted by an eagle during the final round, while Leighton Wright placed fifth at 6-under 210. Forrest Van Alstine tied for sixth at 2-under 214.
UBC will return to action Sept. 13-14 at GreenTee Country Club in Langley, British Columbia, for a two-day BC Golf match-play event against the University of the Fraser Valley.
