KANSAS CITY, Mo - Shaynee McWilliams, a sophomore setter, helped power College of Idaho to a pair of impressive victories over nationally recognized opponents, earning PrestoSports NAIA Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week honors.
McWilliams played a pivotal role in extending the Yotes’ unbeaten start to 13-0, directing the offense in wins over No. 6 Corban and RV Bushnell (Ore.). The Meridian, Idaho native averaged 11.38 assists per set across the two matches while contributing in nearly every facet of the game.
In the weekend opener against No. 6 Corban, McWilliams orchestrated the offense in a hard-fought five-set victory. She dished out 57 assists, averaging 11.4 assists per set, while adding 17 digs, two service aces and two block assists. Her steady play helped College of Idaho outlast one of the top teams in the NAIA and keep its perfect record intact.
McWilliams followed that performance with another strong outing in a straight-set sweep of Bushnell. She recorded 34 assists, while contributing 12 digs, three service aces and two more block assists.
For the weekend, McWilliams totaled 91 assists, 29 digs, five service aces and four total blocks. She also averaged 3.63 digs per set and 0.63 aces per set.
