NAIA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo - Ashlyn Fuss, a freshman goalkeeper from Boise, Idaho showed up for the Raiders against a pair of top 25 teams as her goals against average through four matches of her SOU career sits at a 0.29.

Fuss earned the PrestoSports-NAIA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors after holding No. 23 Westcliff (Calif.) to just one goal back on August 31, where she made three saves to collect the draw on the road. Four days later, she did it again on the road against No. 3 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) making 18 saves for the 0-0 draw.

Her 18 saves against ERAU was the third highest single game save total in Southern Oregon history and the best over the last 24 years.

Fuss and Co. concluded the week with a third road match against Benedictine Mesa (Ariz.) where they picked up the 10-1 victory.

Among eligible goalkeepers this season, her .960 save percentage is good enough for 13th in the nation.

Fuss will look to keep her momentum heading into the final non-conference match of the season against Simpson (Calif.) on Friday, Sept. 11. SOU and Simpson will kickoff at 11 a.m. PT.
