2010-11 Preseason All-CCC Team

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech’s Joseph Foster, an honorable mention All-American who helped lead the Hustlin’ Owls to conference regular season and postseason tournament titles last year, has been voted the 2010-11 Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball Preseason Player of the Year.

Balloting was done by the CCC’s 10 head coaches.

Foster heads a 16-person preseason All-CCC team that includes 11 conference returnees and five newcomers.

Last season, Foster averaged 16.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in addition to leading the CCC in free throw percentage and ranking seventh in 3-point field goal percentage. The Hustlin’ Owls posted an overall record of 30-5 and reached the second round of the NAIA Tournament.

Oregon Tech is favored to win its third straight regular season and postseason CCC tournament titles in 2010-11.

Eastern Oregon, which is picked to finish in a tie for second place, led the way with three selections to the preseason All-CCC team. All three Mountaineers voted to the squad are newcomers – senior guard JC Cook, who was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year last season after averaging 14.5 points and 3.4 rebounds at Central Washington; junior wing/forward Travares Peterson, who averaged 17.3 points and 5.1 rebounds at Pima (Ariz.) CC in 2009-10; and junior wing Jamar Johnson, who averaged 16.4 points and 4.9 rebounds at Mt. Hood CC a season ago.

Northwest, which was picked to finish in a tie for second place in the CCC’s preseason poll, had a pair of selections – senior forward Greg George, a first team All-CCC choice who averaged 14.2 points and 7.8 rebounds as a junior; and senior wing Tyson Christie, who averaged 11.0 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Eagles last year.

Corban (senior forward Ian Logan and junior forward Erik Cronrath), Concordia (junior guard Gage Aker and junior forward Jourdan Sweeney), and Warner Pacific (senior guard Webster Moreland and junior transfer Nick Schultens) each had two players voted to the team.

Other selections included College of Idaho guard Matt Ballenger, Northwest Christian guard Quentin Guidry, Evergreen guard Josh Troyer and Southern Oregon forward Jordan Highland.
