PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho guard Nicole Gall, who has helped lead the Yotes to at least a share of back-to-back women’s basketball regular season conference titles and a pair of appearances in the NAIA Tournament, has been voted the 2010-11 Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason Player of the Year.
Gall, a senior guard from Boise, Idaho, averaged 17.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and was credited with 111 steals last season while leading the Yotes to the CCC regular season and postseason tournament titles. Gall was named third-team NAIA All-America, first team All-CCC and the CCC Defensive Player of the Year. She is joined on the preseason All-CCC team by teammate Nicole Bruce.
“Nicole [Gall] has grown in her leadership and has worked hard in the offseason,” said C of I head coach Reagan Rossi. “We are looking for her to be a strong contributor in our continuity. We are excited about this team and another successful season.”
Southern Oregon led the way with three preseason All-CCC choices: senior guard Whitney Scott, who returns following a medical hardship; senior guard Jamie Roupp; and University of Utah transfer Josi McDermott. Scott averaged 13.1 points and 2.9 rebounds during an All-CCC campaign two seasons ago, and Roupp, a one-time Portland State transfer, averaged 6.2 points and 5.6 rebounds last year.
Warner Pacific and Northwest Christian each had two selections; the Knights were represented by junior guards Kelsey Mattsen and Cameryn Calhoun, while the Beacons were represented by senior forward Lori Renner and sophomore transfer Lindsey Shearer.
Other selections include Concordia forward Danielle Clauson, Corban forward Katie Steigleman, Evergreen guard Latrina Woods, Oregon Tech forward Brittany Cherry, Eastern Oregon guard Kyle Miller, and Northwest center Jessalyn Jackson.
