 Award winners have been recognized in areas emphasizing academics, character, and athletic performance, as well as, celebrating contributions to the overall success of the organization.
 
A.O. Duer National AwardNamed in honor of the NAIA's former executive secretary for his 26 years of service to the Association, the A.O. Duer Scholarship Award has been presented since 1967 to one male and one female junior student-athlete in any sport who have excelled in scholarship, character, and citizenship. Nominees must be at least a junior academically with a minimum 3.75 GPA.

Emil S. Liston National Award - Named in honor of the NAIA's first executive secretary and the prime mover behind the men's basketball tournament, Emil Liston Scholarship Award has been presented annually since 1950 to one junior men's and one junior women's basketball student-athlete who has shown high athletic and scholastic achievement. Nominees must be at least a junior academically with a minimum 3.50 GPA.

Dr. LeRoy Walker Champion of Character - The Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award for student-athletes is one of the most prestigious awards in the NAIA and was created in association with National Sports Foundation, a group of sports organizations that promote and recognize sportsmanship.  Dr. Walker was a former president of the NAIA and president emeritus of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Nominees must be at least of junior academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA and have eligibility remaining. The award honors outstanding student-athletes for their academics, athletics, leadership and dedication to living the core values of Champions of Character.

Charles Morris Award- Recognizes administrators in all phases of NAIA athletic programs (ex., FARS, Eligibility Chairs, Commissioners, Sports Chairs, etc.) on college campuses and/or administrators of affiliated conferences/A.I.I.  It was initiated in memory and honor of past NAIA Associate Executive Director Charles Morris, and recipients should exemplify the loyalty and enthusiasm Charles Morris had for the NAIA.

Wally Swartz Award- Recognizes a conference/CAC (Independents) and national Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) of the Year. The award honors the late Wally Schwartz, former NAIA vice-president of Legislative Services. The intent is to consider members who are FARs in all phases of the FARA on college campuses and at the conference level. The recipient should exemplify the loyalty, enthusiasm, and honesty that Wally Schwartz exemplified on behalf of the NAIA.

NAIA Hall of Fame- The Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor presented by the association. Nominees must be of outstanding quality, high moral character, fine leadership ability, and must be held in high esteem by their colleagues, former coaches, and former athletes.
