Concordia’s Nicole Franklin, a freshman from Hillsboro, Ore., has been chosen the Red Lion Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Franklin was thrust into the game in the 87th minute against No.6-ranked Mobile (Ala.) after starting keeper earned a red card. Not only did Franklin come up with two difficult saves in the two pressure-filled overtimes, Franklin came on to start her first career collegiate match the next day against another top-20 team, allowing a single goal in another double-overtime session against No. 17 William Carey (Miss.). In over 130 minutes of action, Franklin allowed just the single goal for a .68 goals against average against the ranked competition.
