Emily Hawgood is the CCC's 2016-17 female Les Schwab Champions of Character award winner. A product of Beatrice, Zimbabwe, Hawgood was the 2016-17 chairperson of the CCC’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the conference’s representative to the NAIA. Additionally, she has served as the president of C of I’s International Student Club, a board member of the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization, a Campus Ambassador for incoming students, and a “Reading Buddy” for the Caldwell School District. During the academic year, she organized a field day for 120 special needs students and parents in coordination with Special Olympics Idaho and was the lone student speaker at C of I’s 2017 Scholarship Gala, the college’s largest fundraising event of the year. Hawgood, an Academic All-CCC honoree and exercise physiology major, was a national championship qualifier in all three sports during her time with the Yotes. She was an All-CCC performer back-to-back years in the 10,000 meters and also completed an Ironman Triathlon last summer.
