At 32 years old, Mayernik went out on top 14 years after making his collegiate debut at SOU. The 6-foot-7 product of Springfield, Ore., was voted the CCC Player of the Year and landed on the NAIA All-America first team after averaging a double-double on the season, 15.7 points and 12.4 rebounds, from the forward position. He was the top rebounder in the NAIA and his average was top-10 across all collegiate levels: He had nine games with 15 or more rebounds, a school record 23, and the first 20-point, 20-rebound game in Beacon history. His shooting percentage of 58.1 also ranked second in the CCC, and his 1.1 blocks-per-game clip ranked seventh.
Mayernik recorded 11 of his 18 double-doubles during a stretch in which NCU won 15 consecutive games and clinched its second consecutive CCC regular-season title. The Beacons went on to NAIA Division II Championships and advanced to the second round for the second year in a row.
