Perkinson, a product of Roseburg, Ore., put together the most prolific season ever for a Raider runner and will already be a nine-time NAIA All-American by the time her final season begins. She capped the year by winning the 5,000-meter title at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships – her second title after winning the 10K last year – and placed sixth in the 1,500 to become SOU’s first All-American in that event. She was also the CCC’s top finisher at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, coming in third for SOU’s best-ever finish, and earned two All-America honors at the NAIA Indoor Championships: in the mile (fourth place) and the distance medley relay (second).
Perkinson captured CCC titles in the 5K and the 1,500, winning the latter by breaking school and CCC Championship records (4:30.11). A couple weeks earlier, she’d already broken her own school record in the 5K (16:37.47). Additionally, she was a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete and a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
