Gould, a freshman out of West Linn, Ore., hit the automatic qualifying mark to nationals in just his first collegiate meet with a height of 4.80 meters in the pole vault. His mark is the third best in Eastern Oregon history, and is tied for fourth in the NAIA this season. Gould finished third individually, with a pair of NCAA Division I competitors from Utah State being the only pole vaulters to best him.
