Lumb rocketed to the top of the NAIA's 5,000-meter performance list with his outstanding showing at the Mt. SAC Relays this weekend. In an event that featured mostly professionals and NCAA Division I athletes, Lumb placed ninth in the men's invitational race with a time of 13:40.51, finishing second among collegiate runners. His time of 13:40.51 is more than 46 seconds ahead of his next-closest rival in the NAIA, and it would also put him at No. 14 in the current NCAA Division I rankings. Lumb's time also surpassed the Canadian standard in the 5,000 meters for the Pan American Games and the World University Games.
