Southern Oregon University’s Jessie Selby was named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Selby, a 5-7 sophomore goalkeeper from Vancouver, Wash., had 14 saves – the most for any SOU keeper since 2006 – allowing the Raiders to beat NCAA DII Sonoma State 1-0, a game in which they were out-shot 32-4. She came up big to stop a penalty kick to keep the game scoreless in the 80th minute. It was SOU’s first win against an NCAA DII opponent since 2012.
