Northwest Christian University’s Morgan McKinney was named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, her second honor of the year.
McKinney, a 5-foot-8 junior guard from Lake Oswego, Ore., was instrumental in both games as the Beacons moved into sole possession of first-place in the CCC standings. While her game goes far beyond just her offense (11 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals in two games) it was scoring that gave her a historic weekend. In the win against Multnomah University, McKinney crossed the 1,000-career point line, becoming the fourth Beacon in school history to do so, and the first to accomplish the feat as a junior. She finished the week with 43 points, averaging 21.5 points per game.
