UBC’s Shelby Kempbel was named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
 
The five-foot-five sophomore pitcher from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, had an excellent start to her sophomore season. She threw four shutout innings in the Thunderbirds' 2020 season opener at NCAA DII Western Washington to earn the win. Kempel then came on in relief in Game 2 of the doubleheader and did not give up a run in three innings. She had four strikeouts in seven total innings in the circle.
