UBC’s Mia Valcke was named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
 
The five-foot-nine sophomore centerfielder from Stratford, Ontario, Canada, led the Thunderbirds offensively in a season-opening doubleheader at NCAA Division II Western Washington. Valcke went 3-for-5 batting, including a double, and drew a walk. She boasted a .800 slugging average in the two games with one run scored.
