UBC’s Adam Maier was named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
 
The six-foot freshman pitcher from North Vancouver, B.C., Canada, picked up his first career win, after throwing five innings of relief against No. 19 Lewis-Clark State College. Maier gave up just three hits and one run, while striking out five batters. He entered the game with UBC ahead 7-4 and the Thunderbirds ended up winning 9-5. He now owns a record of 1-0 with an earned run average of 1.13.
