Top-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Gabby Sandoval was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Pitcher of the Week, her fifth honor of the year and third in a row.
Sandoval, a five-foot-three senior pitcher from Anaheim, Calif., held the team with the most runs in the NAIA (No. 23-ranked College of Idaho) to just one over 14 innings, pitching a two-hit shutout and a three-hit complete game. She improved to 20-0, making her the only pitcher in the country with at least 20 wins and no losses. Sandoval also moved up a spot to No. 4 on the NAIA's all-time wins list (110) and has now won 34-consecutive decisions.
