No. 1-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Hannah Shimek was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Softball Player of the Week for the second time this year.
Shimek, a five-foot-10 senior infielder from Bothell, Wash., had nine hits and broke SOU's career record for RBIs with three – raising her total to 143 – to help the Raiders take over sole possession of first place in the CCC standings. She went 4-4 on stolen-base attempts, making her 21-22 this season and raised her batting average to .423 after boasting a .563 mark over the weekend.
