Bushnell University’s Anabel Mendez was named the WVT Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
Mendez, a senior outfielder from Santa Ana, Calif., had an impressive weekend, batting .727 with three multiple-hit games for the Beacons. She went 5-for-5 in Saturday's double-header and her two doubles in game-four tied her for the Bushnell season record in that category, which has stood for 18 years. Her efforts led the Beacons to their first four-game winning streak in eight years and have put them in a position to fight for their first-ever CCC postseason appearance over the final two weeks. Mendez finished the weekend with a 1.364 slugging percentage, seven RBIs, eight hits and eight runs.
