UBC’s Katherine Lucas was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, her second time earning the award.
Lucas, a junior from Vancouver, B.C., Canada, won both the 100- and 200-meter races within an hour of each other. She set a new CCC Track and Field Championship Meet, presented by U.S. Bank, record in the 200m with a time of 24.28 and matched her record in the 100m with a time of 11.78 seconds. Lucas now heads to the NAIA National Championship Meet with the conference's top time in both events. She also won the 400m (55.94 seconds) and ran the first leg for the UBC 4x400 team, which broke the meet record by nearly two seconds in 3:47.37, and was part of a second-place 4x100 team.
