Eastern Oregon’s Casey Loper has been named the Red Lion Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Loper, a junior from Powell Butte, Ore., helped the Mountaineers to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Warner Pacific and No. 19 Concordia. In both contests, Loper led the Mountaineers in kills. She recorded 35 kills and four aces for the weekend. Against Warner Pacific on Friday night, Loper recorded 16 kills on 22 total attacks for a hitting percetnage of .682 hitting percentage. In the NAIA Match of the Week against No. 19 Concordia, Loper recorded a game-high 19 kills. Her last two kills of the night were the most critical kills of the night for EOU. Down, 14-13, in set five, Loper recorded her 18th kill to tie the set at 14. Loper's 19th kill of the night was the match clincher giving EOU the fifth set, 16-14, and extending the Mountaineers winning streak to 13 straight contests. She ranks 13th in the nation in hitting percentage (.376) and 37th in total kills (264). Lopers 264 kills leads the Mountaineers and she is averaging 3.52 kills per set. Loper recorded a hitting percentage of .424 for the week.
