PORTLAND, Ore.—Warner Pacific responded with a pair of second-half goals to defeat Concordia in men’s soccer action at Delta Pak on Saturday.

With the result, Warner Pacific improved to 9-3-0 on the year and 8-1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, to grab sole possession of first place in the league. Concordia fell to 8-4-1 overall and 7-3-0 in league action.

Mirza Ramic broke through for the Cavaliers in the 40th minute with a score off an assist from teammates Jared Brace and Tyler Camp, giving the home side a slim advantage heading into intermission.

After firing for 13 shots in the first half the Cavaliers could not duplicate the scoring in the second, getting their attempts cut in half while Warner Pacific doubled their effort from six to 12 attempts after the break.

The CU lead would soon prove to be answerable as WPC’s Zack Barron nodded the cross-town contest at 1-1 with a goal in the 52nd minute with the aid of an assist from Alija Sacirovic. Evan Lehner would eventually provide the game-winner for the Knights with an unassisted score in the 79th minute.

Concordia finished with a 19-to-18 edge in shot attempts and an 8-to-6 lead in shots on goal, but Warner Pacific generated 11 corner kicks compared to five for the Cavs.

Concordia resume splay at Evergreen State on Oct. 20 while WPC will host Northwest on Oct. 21for their next contest.
