BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia scored two goals late in the first half and exploded for four more in the second as the Cavaliers shut out Evergreen State 6-0 Friday in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s soccer match at Delta Park.

With the win, the Cavaliers improved their record to 12-2-0 overall and 9-1-0 in the CCC. Evergreen State falls to 2-9-2 overall, 2-7-1 in conference play.

Despite outshooting the Geoducks 15-to-1 in the first, Concordia was left without a goal for almost the entire first half as the home team struggled to find an offensive rhythm behind nine offsides calls in the period. Facundo Dipascuale (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Lakeridge H.S.) broke through for Concordia in the 41st minute when he scored from 15 yards out to the left side of the net.

Septi Danciu (Bristita, Romania/Evergreen H.S.) followed up with a goal of his own 38 seconds before halftime, taking a pass from Michael Chamberlain (Wailua, Hawaii/Island H.S.) and sending it straight on from 10 yards out, just through the reach of Evergreen goalkeeper Casey Collins (Seattle, Wash./Whatcom C.C.).

Danciu made it a 3-0 contest with his second goal of the game, in the 59th minute on a charge up the left side and shot from 15 yards out to the right side of the goal. Dipascuale chipped in his second netter of the contest 15 minutes later, taking a pass from Jordan Correa (Lynnwood, Wash./Meadowdale H.S.) on the left side of the goal.

Mirza Ramic (Banja Luka, Bosnia/Prairie H.S.) and Correa contributed goals in the 85th and 88th minute to close out the scoring for Concordia. The Cavs’ finished with a 24-to-5 shot advantage.

Claudio Lazar (Ploesti, Romania) collected two saves while playing the first 73 minutes in front of the net for the Cavs while Cole Dahle (Wilsonville, Ore./Wilsonville H.S.) finished the game out for CU with one save. Collins registered three saves while taking the loss for the Geoducks.

Concordia will host Northwest on Saturday at PCC-Rock Creek at 6 p.m. as the Cavaliers will look to earn Birkey’s 300th career win. Evergreen’s next match is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, when the Geoducks visit Corban University in Portland, Ore.
