PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific posted an early two goal lead, and made it stick for a 2-1 win over Northwest Christian in Cascade Conference men’s soccer action today.

Brandon Tatum struck early for the host Knights, scoring his first collegiate goal in the 6th minute from 8 yards after a nice slotted pass from Alija Sacirovic. Freshman Jameson Jones added the second score at the 19:23 mark with a close in tap thanks to a well placed cross from Julian Esquivel.

Warner Pacific outshot the visiting Beacons 21-4 for the game, but NCU made one of their two shots for the second period count. In the 66th minute, Jun Yoon made a run up the right side and crossed a ball to the waiting head of TJ Prentice, who found the net and cut the WP lead in half.

The Knights buckled down on defense the rest of the way and cracked 11 shots in the second half, but some key saves from NCU keeper Nick Kratzke kept the score at 2-1.

Warner Pacific improves to 8-6-2 overall and stays in the hunt for a CCC playoff spot at 8-3-0. Northwest Christian falls to 6-9-0 and 3-8-0.
