Eagles Come Back to Defeat EOU
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Down 2-1 in the first half, Northwest University rallied for two second half goals to come from behind to defeat Eastern Oregon University, 3-2, this afternoon in a Cascade Conference game.
Sarah Milne put Eastern Oregon (2-5-1, 2-2 CCC) into the early lead with her goal 12 minutes into the first half after taking a pass from teammate Lauren Robideau. Northwest's midfielder Yanet Candido (Sr.,Pasco, Wash.) tied the match 1-1 on her unassisted goal coming at 34:27. Nine minutes later, EOU's Erika Whitehurst put the Mountaineers back into the lead with her unassisted goal (43:13). The half ended with Eastern Oregon in the lead 2-1.
It took Northwest (5-2-2, 2-1 CCC) 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the second half to tie the game up as junior Abby Brauer (Kent, Wash.) took Lizzie Perkins' (Soph., Seattle, Wash.) cross and knocked one in from 12 yards out on the left side of the goal. Freshman Kelsey Frasier (Vancouver, Wash.) got the game winner four minutes later with her unassisted goal from the left side, 15 yards out.
Northwest held the edge in shots, 23-11 and corner kicks, 9-1. EOU goalkeeper Chantal Scheffers had 8 saves on the day while NU goalie, Jessica Kane (Jr., Issaquah), stopped 6 Eastern Oregon shots on goal.
