GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines connected on 65 percent of its shots from the floor en route to a 94-61 victory over visiting Concordia in a non-conference game Friday night.

With the loss, Concordia falls to 3-2 on the season. Colorado School of Mines improves to 2-0.

The Orediggers made 40 shots on 62 attempts, including nine of 17 from beyond the three-point arc, and compiled 31 assists to Concordia’s four in the contest. Five Orediggers reached double-figures in the scoring column, led by Sean Armstrong’s 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting.

Colorado School of Mines scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back. Jourdan Sweeney’s jumper at 17:13 put Concordia on the board at 9-2, but the Orediggers scored the next eight points to take control at 17-2 less than five minutes into the game.

Concordia battled back to within eight points three different times in before the break, but leading 32-24 with 5:19 remaining before halftime but the Orediggers closed the period on a 15-7 run to take a 47-31 lead into the locker room.

The Orediggers opened the second half on a 13-2 run to take a 27-point lead with 17:06 remaining in the contest, extending the lead to 37 in the final minute of play before Concordia scored the final four points to end the game at 94-61.

Kevan West (Vancouver, Wash./Prairie H.S.) led CU with 17 points, while Adam Herman (Vancouver, Wash./Prairie H.S.) added 13 and six rebounds. The Cavaliers shot 33 percent from the field (19-of-58) and connected on only one of 13 attempts from beyond the arc, but the Cavs did shoot 79 percent from the free throw line (22-of-28).

Concordia returns to action Nov. 20 when the Cavaliers visit Denver’s Metro State University in a non-conference game scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
