Oregon Tech Cruises to 90-61 Win Over Bruins

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – All 10 Oregon Tech players put points on the board, as the No. 9 ranked Hustlin’ Owls secured a 90-61 victory over Bethany University in the second game of the Midland Empire Insurance Classic tonight at Danny Miles Court.

Oregon Tech improves to 4-1 on the season, while Bethany University drops to 0-6. Bethany will meet Southern Oregon University tomorrow in the early game, with Oregon Tech hosting Pacific Union at 7:30 PM. Southern Oregon defeated Pacific Union this afternoon by a 74-59 final.

With seven minutes remaining in the opening period, Oregon Tech had just a three point lead. A Matt Smith triple, followed by a Bryant Sentman jumper, however, led to a 22-9 run that put the Owls up 49-33 at halftime.

Oregon Tech would eventually build a 27 point lead on back-to-back treys by Mihaljo Matic and Joseph Foster, giving the Owls a comfortable 73-46 lead with 11 minutes on the clock.
Brandon Bautista, seeing his first action of the season, dropped in his first two points of his career that gave the Owls their largest lead of the game of 35 points, 88-53. Over the next four minutes the teams traded baskets, as the Owls moved on to a 90-61 win.

Joseph Foster finished the night with a team-high 26 points on 9-of-18 from the field, including 4-for-5 from the 3-point line to go with five rebounds. Matt Smith netted 18 points, including a 4-for7 effort from beyond the arch. Kyle Gomez added 12 points and five rebounds, followed by 11 points from Mihajlo Matic and 10 from Bryant Sentman.

Oregon Tech shot 54.4% from the field, including 12-for-25 from the 3-point line, while hitting on 16 of 17 free throws.

The Bruins Marqus Crawford led all scorers with a game-high 28 points, including a 10-for-10 effort at the charity stripe. Travis Derochowski added nine points, while Micah Jones finished with six points and six rebounds in the loss.
