ASHLAND, ORE. -- Southern Oregon freshman Kyle Tedder went for 23 points as the Raiders nearly upset NAIA Division I Fresno Pacific before falling 57-56 tonight in the finale of the annual Flagship Inn Invitational at McNeal Pavilion.

The setback snaps a five-game winning streak for the Raiders as they dropped to 6-2 overall. Fresno Pacific improved to 5-2 on the season. The Sunbirds are receiving votes in the latest NAIA Division I Top 25 poll.

Tedder continues to impressive during his rookie campaign. The Marshfield High product made seven 3-pointers to finish with 23 points.

Jordan Wild led the Sunbirds with 16 points.

After shooting nearly 52 percent in the first half, the Raiders struggled offensively in the second half as a 38-29 halftime was trimmed down to a one-point lead at 44-43 with just under 11:00 to play.

A quick run highlight by another Tedder 3-pointer pushed the SOU advantage to 51-43 but Fresno quickly trimmed it down to one again at 51-50 on a layup by Kendall Holmes.

Again it was Tedder from long distance to give the Raiders hope as he buried his seventh 3-pointer of the game to give SOU a 54-50 lead.

The Sunbirds came right with a layup by Matt Christman to cut the lead to 54-52 and three free throws by Wild had Fresno up 55-54 with 2:16 to play.

Fresno pushed the lead to 57-54 before a pair of Sam Osofsky free throws trimmed it to 57-56 and the Raiders missed a 3-pointer with time running out.

Jordan Highland finished with seven points for the Raiders, while Drew Herrera had six rebounds to go with four assists.

SOU travels to Concordia next Friday to open Cascade Conference play.
